PRINCE2® Certifications
PRINCE is an acronym for PRojects IN Controlled Environments. The PRINCE2® qualification is a de-facto, step-by-step approach for project management. The first version of PRINCE2® called ‘PRINCE’ was established in 1989 and was used mainly by the UK government to manage IT projects. The second version of this project management methodology known as PRINCE2®, was published in 1996. PRINCE2® certification is owned by AXELOS Limited and the courses are accredited by PeopleCert on behalf of AXELOS.
PRINCE2® training bases its methodology on a tried and tested approach that had been used by professional project managers to deliver successful projects. The PRINCE2® certification separates the management of a project from the contributions of specialists. However, when the specialist aspect of the project is integrated with the PRINCE2® methodology, it provides an overall framework for the project work.
The PRINCE2® methodology, being a process-based approach for project management, can be applied to managing any project no matter the size, location, geography, or complexity. PRINCE2® has now been adopted as a methodology for managing projects in over 150 countries.
The courses that prepare candidates for the PRINCE2® certification, comprise a set of integrated principles, themes, and processes and a set of rigorous activities needed to direct, manage, control, and deliver successful project outcomes.
