Free Online Juniper Networks Course (Fundamentals)

Are you looking for a way to brush off the cobwebs on some technologies you’ve studied or worked with in the past?

Or simply have some gaps in your knowledge that would benefit from a top up?

If you answered yes to any of the above, the Juniper Networking Fundamentals is a free online course that will certainly be a good start to bring you up to speed.

It is not mandated that attendance is compulsory however not every engineer could claim they have knowledge of all the topics included in this 4 hour online course.

You might be a little rusty or haven’t had much exposure, experience or touched a specific technology for a while.  This is a great opportunity to complete this online course before attending any Juniper’s IJOS (Introduction to the Junos Operating System).

As a minimum, you can briskly walk through the topics you may not work with every day.

We can also deliver this type of training as a half day or full day workshop to your staff which would be more interactive and allows discussions / demonstrations on key topics.  We are flexible with the outline of topics that can be offered.

  • The 5-hour course covers the following technologies and concepts;
  • What is a network; data flows from one computer to another, Network addressing
  • Ethernet LANs; hubs and bridges, switches and Virtual LANs (VLANs), Wireless LANs
  • Routing basics; Layer 2 and 3 addressing, broadcast domains using routers, Address resolution, traffic routing
  • IP addressing; Internet Protocol (IP), IP addressing, Network masks, Working with binary numbers, Subnetting, Routing using longest match routing, IPv6 Addressing;
  • WAN technologies; Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Frame Relay and Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM), Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Carrier Ethernet
  • Transport Layer protocols; User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)

New Juniper Online Training Manuals

Juniper Education Services Announce OnSecure 3.0 – Go live date July 2017.

Juniper’s new digital courseware platform Kortext provides students with access to all their material in one convenient PC or Tablet location simultaneously across multiple platforms (PC, Apple OS device, Android).

Unlike the previous method of delivery using Watchdox, student manuals will no longer expire in 12 months and now the ability to have all course materials in a virtual bookshelf is a delight to manage.

There’s user enjoyment to be had in a long list of new features, including:

  • A more modern look-and-feel bookshelf with in contrast to a classic file-based workspace.  A sortable library of book covers is replacing a sequenced list of file folders.
  • The authorisation and access features are now provided within a single app download.
  • No separate plug-in to manage authorisation.
  • Annotation, book marking, note-taking, are all provided in a more intuitive interface. Syncing between all devices is automatic
  • Users will now also be able to establish groups for specific courses and collaborate with others on (only those) commonly accessible courses (only sharing notes).
  • E-Pub files are now supported instead of pdf files, for an improved “book” experience.
  • Printing is still allowed in the on-line viewer, within a predetermined page count limit.

So let’s start with the most recent additions;

  • June 30, 2017, an updated 5-day updated version of the Junos Platform Automation (JAUT) course will replace the 4-day version, which will be called Junos Platform Automation and DevOps. Information current as of April 2017.

 

  • June 30, 2017, an updated 5-day version of Advanced Junos Security (AJSEC) will replace the 3-day version. The new version will include content from the AJSEC course, Junos Intrusion Prevention Systems (JIPS) course, and Junos Unified Threat Management (JUTM) course. After June 30, 2017, the 3-day AJSEC, JIPS, and JUTM courses will not be offered.

 

  • June 30, 2017, the Advanced Junos Service Provider Troubleshooting (AJSPT) course will no longer be available. Content from the AJSPT course will be included in the Advanced Junos Service Provider Routing (AJSPR), Junos MPLS Fundamentals (JMF), Junos Layer 2 VPNs (JL2V) and Junos Layer 3 VPNs (JL3V) courses.

 

  • June 30, 2017, the Advanced Junos Enterprise Routing Troubleshooting (AJERT) and Advanced Junos Enterprise Switching Troubleshooting (AJEXT) courses will no longer be available. Content from the AJERT and AJEXT courses will be included in the Junos Enterprise Switching (JEX), Advanced Junos Enterprise Switching (AJEX), and Advanced Junos Enterprise Routing (AJER) courses.

 

  • June 30, 2017, the Advanced Junos Enterprise Security Troubleshooting (AJEST) course will no longer be available. Content from the AJEST course will be included in the Junos Security (JSEC) and Advanced Junos Security (AJSEC) courses.

 

  • June 23, 2017, an updated 5-day version of the Advanced Junos Service Provider Routing (AJSPR) course will replace the 4-day version.

 

  • June 16, 2017, an updated 5-day version of the Network Automation Using Contrail Cloud (NACC) course will replace the 3-day version.

 

  • June 16, 2017, an updated 5-day version of Junos Security (JSEC) will replace the 3-day version.

 

  • May 25th, 2017, a new 4-day version of the Advanced Juniper Enterprise Routing (AJER) course will replace the 3-day version.

 

  • April 1, 2017, an updated 3- day version of the Introduction to the Junos Operating System (IJOS) with the content of IJOS and JRE with associated appendices included into a 3 day format.

 

  • April 1, 2017, the Junos Routing Essentials (JRE) course will no longer be available.  Content from JRE will be included in the Introduction to the Junos Operating System.

 

  • March 31, 2017, the Data Center Switching (DCX) and Troubleshooting Data Centre Switching (TDCX) will no longer be available.  Content from DCX, ADCX and TDCX will be be combined into a single 5-day course.

 

  • March 31, 2017, Juniper Networks Certified Support Professional, Service Provider Routing and Switching (JNCSP-SP) certification reached end-of-life.

 

  • March 31, 2017, Juniper Networks Certified Support Professional, Enterprise Routing and Switching (JNCSP-ENT) certification reached end-of-life.

 

  • March 31, 2017 Juniper Networks Certified Support Professional, Security (JNCSP-SEC) certification reached end-of-life.

 

  • December 31, 2016, Junos MPLS and VPNS (JMV).  The Junos Layer 2 VPNs (JL2V) and Junos Layer 2 VPNs (JL3V) courses are indeed prep for the Juniper Networks Certified Professional Service Provider Routing and Switching (JNCIP-SP) exam. The content from the JMV course that was relevant for the JNCIS-SP is now embodied in the JMF course.

 

  • December 31, 2016, Junos Space for the Service Provider (JS-SP) will no longer be available.

 

  • December 31, 2016, Junos Switching Enablement (JSLEX) will no longer be available.

 

  • December 31, 2016, Junos Enablement: IOS to Junos OS (JSLJUN) will no longer be available.

 

  • December 31, 2016, Junos Security Enablement: ScreenOS to Junos OS (JSLSEC) will no longer be available.
